Your eyes feel super heavy. Your loss of concentration is real and your team shouts ‘’One. More. Game’’, you get your G Fuel and you keep going. But what does it do to your health? Are the ingredients of G Fuel healthy, or is it disastrous?
The developers of energy drinks are not really in the business of making you healthy. Gamma Labs claims that they created G Fuel to be dedicated to your health and well-being for all active lifestyles.
With this mission, Gamma Labs differentiates itself from the other energy drinks. Is this smart Marketing, or do they truly attack the States Quo?
In this article, I will critically yet fairly analyze G Fuel. Does it have good or unhealthy ingredients for gamers?
After that, I will give you a more effective alternative for G Fuel (which you don't want to miss)!
What is G Fuel?
Not Fuel for cars, but G Fuel for gamers... The ‘’G’’ stands for Game, although G Fuel is not only used by gamers. It’s used by fitness models, bodybuilders, footballers, and eSports athletics as well.
You’ve likely seen, heard of, or drank G Fuel. It’s one of the most popular energy drinks in the gaming world. This drink is mainly marketed to gamers to give you a boost of concentration, focus, and energy to keep going.
In short, the idea behind G Fuel is to give a healthy alternative to sugar-loaded energy drinks.
First, why are energy drinks bad for your health?
When you walk into a Supermarket and you go to the shelves with energy drinks, you will find loads of them that are bombarded with sugar, caffeine, and other unhealthy stimulants. These junk drinks cause dehydration and all those vitamins are flushed out of your systems before these elements have an effect.
The consumption of energy drinks is associated with many health problems, associated with the heart, stomach, and nerves. Large amounts of sugar create a spike in blood glucose levels, burning of initial energy and creating a ‘’roller-coaster release of hormones’’.
Besides, the American Academy of Pediatrics says that energy drinks should never be consumed by children or adolescents, because of their stimulant content...

Spikes and constricted blood vessels
Energy drinks also cause spikes in a stress hormone (norepinephrine) that's key in decision making in dangerous situations and puts you in a "fight or flight" mindset. The combination of ingredients in energy drinks, like caffeine, taurine, sugar, and ‘’herbals’’, seems to constrict blood vessels too.
Moreover, researchers at the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston found that an hour and a half after consuming a 24-ounce energy drink, 44 subjects had their blood vessels constrict to nearly half their size. The smaller the vessels, the harder the heart has to pump to get blood to parts of the body including the brain, lungs, and heart itself.
G Fuel Ingredients
G Fuel makes use of natural ingredients, and their goal is to be your healthier alternative for energy drinks! Firstly, their drinks are sugar-free, gluten-free, and packed with many antioxidants and b-vitamins. Secondly, the G Fuel energy drink is an ‘energy drink formula’, because it’s water-based. You have to add your own water to the mix, knowing what’s going into your body.
We’re going through some of its ingredients together that might be questionable.

Caffeine
The amount of caffeine in 'G Fuel Energy Formula' is as much as you would find in a large cup of coffee (140mg to 150mg per serving). The ‘ready-to-drink G Fuel Cans’ contain a lot more caffeine, 300mgs in 16oz to be exact. Caffeine has a stimulating effect and when consuming too much caffeine, you will experience restlessness, insomnia, tremors, dizziness, ringing ears, and palpitations.
According to studies, the most caffeine an adult should consume in a day is 400mg. This limit can be reached pretty fast by drinking one G Fuel can and a coffee, for instance.

Sucralose (Splenda)
There’s no sugar in G Fuel but instead, there is Sucralose, which is a popular artificial sweetener. This sweetener is also used within the Monster and Rockstar energy drinks. Although it’s being around since the 1990s, there’s not much research done on the effects.
Studies link sucralose to a higher risk of cancer in mice. Also, sucralose has been found to increase blood glucose levels and insulin levels. However, sucralose is considered safe within small amounts.
Acesulfame Potassium
‘Other Ingredients’ are often not read, but there can be some questionable, unhealthy substances mentioned on the G Fuel labels. One of them is Acesulfame Potassium (also known as Acesulfame K) which is an artificial sweetener. In Europe, sometimes people call it E950.
Interesting to see is that some critics argue that this substance is even worse than aspartame and saccharin and that there should be more research to consider this substance as ‘safe’. In the long-term, the substance could cause various health problems, including headache & nausea, effects on the liver and kidneys, mental confusion, and depression.
However, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says that it's confirmed safe by over 90 studies, up to an acceptable daily intake of 15mg per kilogram body weight. European authorities have also not classified Acesulfame Potassium as harmful to humans.
Artificial Colors
''FD&C Red #40'' is one of the most common artificial colors used, but research suggests that some people are sensitive to food dyes. They may cause some serious side effects that vary a lot, such as hyperactivity, insomnia, migraine headaches, or allergic reactions.

Energy Complex & Focus Complex
The substances mentioned in the ‘Energy-‘ and ‘Focus Complex’ have energy-enhancing effects. These ingredients are either produced by your body on its own or they naturally occur in food which you can supplement with G Fuel.
Good nutrients
G Fuel also has good nutrients inside. Your body needs essential nutrients each day, such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, and anti-oxidants. These are the basic elements for health and good performance, and G Fuel delivers many of them.
Is G-Fuel bad for your health?
Although G-Fuel is trusted by many people for a dose of healthy energy, focus, and stamina, the FDA’s Legal Authority (Food and Drug Administration) has not approved G-Fuel.
However, G-Fuel states that dietary supplements don’t need to be FDA approved and that G-Fuel is manufactured in FDA-certified facilities - being 100% FDA compliant. ''Our facilities are inspected by and adhere to the requirements of the United States FDA''.
Besides, G-Fuel says that it doesn’t dehydrate you and that its nutrients stay in your system. They won’t get flushed down the toilet as with other energy drinks. They also say that the side effects are almost non-existent.
Wait... There Is Lead Inside G Fuel?
The labels of G Fuel products also tell you that they might contain ‘lead’. According to California’s state laws, there is no known level of exposure that is considered safe, and lead is known to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. That's a scary idea, but good to know is that the amount of lead in G-fuel is well below the FDA’s limits.
How come there is lead inside G Fuel then?
To ease your mind, I want to say at first that lead is commonly found in vegetables, baby food, and candy as well. It's not that G Fuel randomly adds lead to their products. The possible presence of lead comes from the soil, where it occurs naturally. So the amount of lead is likely from natural plants that soaked up traces of lead through the roots (vegetable or fruit plants for example).
So, is G Fuel bad for your health?
Not if you stay within the maximum recommended dosage a day. And pay attention to how you react to it. As soon as you experience a negative outcome instead of a positive, immediately stop using it. The ''questionable'' ingredients are in such small amounts that they won't be harmful but remember: every body is different.

Processed foodstuffs
I couldn't resist mentioning that pure and unprocessed food like bananas falling out of a tree, usually always has been way better than processed foodstuffs. It is a natural form of energy. When processed food smell and taste nice, this might be due to artificial substances. But we also live in a time where everything asks a lot more from us. Hence the born possibilities to boost your brain with G Fuel.
How much G Fuel can you drink?
It’s recommended to take a maximum of 3 servings of G Fuel per day. One serving takes about 10-15 minutes for the desired effects to kick in. The increase in energy and focus can last between 4-6 hours.
The effects will be different for everyone, based on how much energy you need. The best is to start with 1 serving a day.
For G Fuel’s canned products, they recommend you to not exceed one serving per day. When you use more G Fuel after this, you’ll cross the maximum caffeine limit.

Should I Drink G Fuel?
Most of us suffer from a lack of energy, especially at this moment. Whether you’re looking for a healthier energy drink, or simply an improvement of focus and functioning, G Fuel is relatively the least unhealthy drink (formula) – giving you a simple and efficient way to increase your energy. You won't experience a crash and all the unhealthy ingredients in regular energy drinks that bring you more harm than good, are gone.
So if you experience a lack of focus or energy, and you want to get that competitive edge, G Fuel is an excellent choice with all its vitamins, antioxidants, and effective brain boosters inside. It could taste ''artificial'' though and that's why many G Fuel customers switch to Rogue Energy - read more about that here.
But don't see the drink as an alternative for other important things! Still, drink enough water during the day (whether you're using G Fuel or not). Health experts recommend drinking eight 8-ounce glasses which equals about 2 liters. Also, get enough sleep and stick to a constant rhythm, take enough breaks during the day since your body is not made for constantly being busy, and eat healthy snacks and food that give you the essential nutrients your body needs.
Is G Fuel Safe for Kids?
Are you curious if your younger sibling or kid can take G Fuel? Or are you curious as a kid yourself? Even though you are at a young age, you can still feel the need for extra energy. Think about an exciting upcoming (virtual) sports match, building a treehouse with your friends, or the importance to win your game. The amount of energy depends on what you eat and drink, how you sleep, and if you exercise or not.

Decades ago, kids didn’t need energy drinks in other to function. However, it’s understandable that the need for extra energy is increased nowadays. Kids are more inside than ever and social media has a lot of external stimuli on their brains. Everything you see is what your brain processes (even when you’re not aware of it), and takes energy away from you.
G Fuel can provide kids with more energy, but kids to at least 12 years old shouldn’t drink G Fuel. This is also where the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) agrees. The reason for this is the ingredient caffeine (and more). When you are a kid you are in the part of your life where you develop the most. Caffeine has an impact on this. It disrupts connections in your brain, reduces deep sleep, and delays your brain development.

Kids Above 12 Are Allowed to Drink, But…
Kids above the age of 12 are allowed to get small doses of caffeine, but in my personal opinion, they shouldn't consume it at all. Kids have less discipline and it’s harder for them to know when it’s enough. They are more likely to take higher quantities and certain substances (like taurine) can be addictive, and these are not healthy for their developing bodies.
For example, the caffeine intake should be a maximum of 100mg. This amount is so low and It will do more harm than good. Also, remember that even this small amount can lead to you becoming ‘dependent’ on caffeine. Caffeine also stimulates anxiety. Anxiety rising among children.
When you have anxiety the most common symptom is excessive and intrusive worrying. This is so much that it disrupts daily functioning. Besides, you can have difficulty concentrating and you will feel very tired.
It's better not to drink G Fuel for kids when they want to stay happy and healthy. When you’re above the age of 12, you can drink G Fuel but remember it is much healthier to get your energy from other daily activities like being outside, eating, and sleeping well. You don't need it to function well and in the long run, you'll be better off without it since you're body is developing fast.
Enjoy the natural energy that you're gifted within this part of your life, and with that being said I don’t recommend drinking caffeine or energy drinks to at least the age of 18 too - and if you'd really like to, keep it minimized.

G Fuel Boxes vs Packs
When you’re looking for G Fuel samples and struggling between buying a box or a pack: the difference comes to flavors and the amount of money. Buying a box saves you money comparing to buying packs separately.

G Fuel Cans
If you prefer G Fuel that’s ready to drink immediately, you can consider buying a G Fuel can. Be aware that these cans contain more caffeine than the powder variants of G Fuel, where you have to add water. You can easily bring these G Fuel cans with you on the go.
When you don’t like a strong taste, I bet you’re safer with avoiding cans. With the powder variants, you can decide how much water you add. Doesn’t more water create a milder taste?

G Fuel Alternative - Rogue Energy!
If you're looking for a more effective alternative for G Fuel, then you should know about the world's best energy gaming drink: Rogue Energy. Is that true? G Fuel exists for a longer time on the market, being the leader in gaming energy drinks with big influencers and such. But it was also easier for them to grow as they didn’t have true competition at that time. Besides, partnerships with large eSports brands like FaZe Clan made them rose largely.
G Fuel exists since 2011. Rogue Energy since 2017. And it truly deserves as much or even more attention than G Fuel. Let’s dive in!
What Really Got My Attention
The first thing that really got my attention is that Rogue Energy uses the banhammer for everyone under the age of 18. As they state: ‘’Anyone under the age of 18 must cease use of this website!’’. Rogue Energy says that they market their drinks to people within their 20s and 30s, who want a competitive edge in gaming and their everyday life, and who care a bit more about nutrition.

With G Fuel, I had to dive a little bit deeper. They say: ‘’Our website is intended to be accessed and used only by adults and is not directed to minors. If you are below the age of 18, you may access and participate in our website only under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use.’’
G Fuel markets to adolescents as well who are 13-16, and they can visit G Fuel’s website as long as they are under supervision. Rogue Energy actually asks everyone that’s under the age of 18 to leave their website. Rogue Energy’s target audience is people in their 20s and 30s.
So, in short: Rogue Energy is a brand meant for people in their 20s and 30s who want a competitive edge in gaming and everyday life, and care a bit more about nutrition. G Fuel is not a brand made with that focus. They market to adolescents too, as you can tell with their energy pop rocks (they offer ‘’energy crystals’’ which pop in your mouth).
Rogue Energy vs G Fuel Differences
It seems that Rogue Energy has a more serious and dedicated approach when it comes to flavors. They offer 14 flavors, whilst G Fuel has more than 20 different flavors. The reason Rogue Energy has less is because they say that they only want flavors that truly taste authentic and distinct. Isn’t it true that quality matters more than quantity? Rogue Energy says that this authentic real taste comes from natural flavoring. Past G Fuel customers agree that they find G Fuel drinks taste ‘’artificial’’ (but this also depends on your personal opinion and your flavor).

G Fuel flavors could be relatively similar when it comes to taste. The flavors of Rogue Energy are all completely different from each other (which makes it hard to taste similarities). Rogue Energy also uses the healthiest possible sweetener called Stevia, which is thought to be a safer alternative due to its natural origins. Stevia comes from the leaves of plants, such as asters or the chrysanthemums.
It's funny because it could be possible that you have a vase of flowers with Stevia.
Does this mean they never use sucralose like G Fuel? No, because when you look at the side of the ingredients list: yep, there it is: sucralose. So it’s not completely gone, but it's considered safe in small amounts (which is the case).

Rogue Energy Ingredients
The ingredients of Rogue Energy are similar to G Fuel within the energy and focus complex. However, Rogue Energy generally uses higher dosages which makes it more effective. But their antioxidant stack is less compared to G Fuel. I personally think it’s easier to take antioxidants yourself in food than to take substances that actually improve your brain – fast. So if you care more about effectiveness, Rogue Energy seems to win. And this is not surprising, as they wanted to engineer a formula that would produce the most effective energy and focus supplement for gaming possible.
And most importantly: the effects never spike too high, kick in quickly, and last for about 8-10 hours without giving you a crash. You know, that feeling of being exhausted after you felt a big energy boost before.
The Number 1 Feedback Of Rogue Energy Customers
Rogue Energy says that the number one feedback they get from customers who switch from G Fuel to Rogue Energy is that the Rogue Energy products dissolve very well. What does this mean? Unlike with G Fuel or other drinks on the market, you won’t get a chalky texture on your teeth or tongue.
The powder of Rogue Energy will disappear quickly and easily, making it more enjoyable to drink. Let’s be honest: isn’t it a bit dirty when you still experience the texture on your tongue? You want a drink, not sand (lol).

When Should You Choose Rogue Energy Over G Fuel?
So now you know a lot more about the 2 best and most healthy alternatives to unhealthy energy drinks. But when should you choose which? G Fuel or Rogue Energy? I will make this easier for you!
Choose Rogue Energy if:
- You want the most effective results (long-lasting)
- You are at least 18 years or older
- You want flavors that don’t taste similar or ‘‘artificial’’
- You don’t want a chance to experience the ‘’chalkiness’’ problem
If I had to choose? I would choose Rogue Energy. This is because I stand behind their brand, which targets people in their 20s and 30s. I appreciate the ‘why’ behind Rogue Energy’s product more, and everything they do to make it the best. They entered the gaming market in 2017 (instead of G Fuel in 2011), making them less popular maybe, but they don’t pay much attention to what the other brand is doing and they respect G Fuel’s past success.
I am proud to be an affiliate of Rogue Energy, as I truly love their products and it makes it possible for me to give you a discount! Use my code MUSICELLA to get 10% off your purchase! Also, at no extra cost to you I earn a small piece of the profit - which makes you support my gaming website, dedicated to improving uncountable gaming lives.

Conclusion: Is G Fuel Bad For You?
G Fuel is a healthier alternative for energy drinks. General energy drinks (a.k.a. junk drinks) contain a huge load of sugar, caffeine, and other unhealthy stimulants. They dehydrate you, cause energy spikes and their vitamins can't have the desired effect on your body. Many health problems are associated with consuming energy drinks. G Fuel won't give you these energy spikes and has natural ingredients and good nutrients inside like many B-vitamins and antioxidants.
Also, their drinks don't have sugar, are low in calories, and are gluten-free. They call the drink an ''energy drink formula'' since you have to add water to the mix (unless you buy cans). I have spotted some ''questionable'' ingredients which I have thoroughly described. But you should know that these are not harmful to you, as these ''questionable'' ingredients are in such small amounts that it's considered safe.
However, it only stays safe when you are loyal to the daily maximum recommended dosage (don't cross it!). Also, remember that everybody (and every body) is different. The drink is meant to give you positive results. As soon as you experience bad effects that you haven't experienced before, stop using G Fuel (but these effects are extremely rare within healthy adults).
Rogue Energy: A More Effective Alternative!
The more effective alternative for G Fuel is Rogue Energy. Why? It lasts longer and uses a (slightly) higher dosage of substances that improve your brain. They are also dedicated to resolving the ''chalkiness'' problem with each of their products, which means that the Rogue Energy drink dissolves very well. No residue on your tongue or teeth (yay!).
Rogue Energy offers fewer flavors than G Fuel, but each of them is dedicated to tasting as real and non-artificial as possible. They also wanted to avoid similarities between these flavors (as is the case with G Fuel drinks). A noticeable difference is that Rogue Energy markets its products to people in their 20s and 30s, and they ask people under the age of 18 to cease the use of their website.
Rogue Energy is aware that because they're more effective, it is better to avoid children whose bodies are developing at a fast pace. Healthy adults can handle Rogue Energy and have more responsibility for what they take. Children are also more tempted to get more of something than recommended - which causes harm.
Want to try out Rogue Energy? Visit their website and experience it yourself! Because I stand behind their brand, I am partnered with Rogue Energy. Therefore, I can give you a discount of 10% when you use code MUSICELLA at your checkout.
