  • Stippled Grip Tape – When Should You Use It?

Stippled Grip Tape

Are you looking to use the stippled grip tape on your gun? This can be a good choice! This tape is one of the most common attachments within the Call of Duty guns. This tape helps you to perform well at high speed. And isn’t being steady at a higher speed something we all look for (sometimes)?

Both in Warzone and multiplayer you can truly benefit from this attachment. But you have to combine it with the right gun.

We will tell you:

  • When you should use the stippled grip tape
  • 1 assault weapon this tape is good for
  • Stippled Grip Tape vs Tac Laser
  • More benefits

Let’s dive in!

When To Use Stippled Grip Tape

The stippled grip tape is great to use to increase your ADS (aim down sight) speed and make your gun more steady. When you hear an enemy walking beside your house, you peek through the window and quickly aim at the enemy.

And you've got the kill because it was faster for you to aim and you fired all bullets at his head.

Sprint to Fire Speed

Another nice benefit of this tape is that after a sprint, you will be able to fire your bullets faster. In both multiplayer and Warzone, you will be sprinting a lot.

This of course also depends on your playstyle. But when you cross an open area in Warzone, there’s no way you’re going to do that by walking, right?

And in multiplayer, being fast can be the key to get a lot of kills. Multiplayer usually gets louder than Warzone. More people are being clutched together making it a lot safer to sprint. The tape makes you able to scope in faster.

Stippled Grip Tape vs Tac Laser

Both the stippled grip tape and the tac laser improve the ADS speed. What the tac laser doesn't have compared to the tape, is no benefits at the sprint to fire speed. But it does give you more steadiness whilst walking.

Overall, the Tac laser provides a higher ADS speed than the stippled grip tape. You can use them together for the highest ADS speed, but you only have 5 attachment slots. The question is then: which other attachment are you going to give up for this? That’s why many players choose between either the tac laser or stippled grip tape.

Disadvantage Tac Laser

The tac laser is simply better at longer range. The only real disadvantage of the tac laser is that enemies can see the laser. This is different with the tape. Enemies won't see this when you'd like to increase the ADS speed.

You should avoid using the tac laser on SMGs because this easily gives away your position. Instead, it’s better to use the tape.

No Stippled Grip Tape On Assault Weapons

There are no assault weapons that use the tape, unless the AS VAL. What matters with assault weapons is that they need to be steady, and the tape doesn't contribute to this. Assault weapons need recoil control. Therefore, it would be a pity to give up an attachment that does provide more recoil control.

What is the Best for Your Sniper?

You should always use the tac laser on your sniper. You want to be able to shoot and aim at your enemies pretty fast and accurate, but more importantly, you want your gun to stay accurate.

When you have knocked an enemy, wouldn’t it be a shame to miss his head so you can’t finish him?

Also, the scope of a sniper glares anyway so it doesn't matter that you're using the tac laser. You should focus on getting the steady aim benefits.

There’s hardly any bullet drop, and you don’t want your sniper to be aimed at the moon when you shoot.

When you use your sniper on a long-distance, it's usually not about wiping a whole team but getting the 1 kill – especially in open areas.

Aggressive Sniper Style – Use Them Both!

However, when you want the highest ADS speed to quickly knock multiple people at a medium distance, we recommend you remove the monolithic suppressor to make room for the tape as well. You will hand in some of your range, but now you will be able to quickly scope in and out.

Be aware that this is a very aggressive setup on a sniper that can be hard for beginners. You have to be very accurate, knowing what you’re doing. You kind of use a sniper in an MP5 fight. Mostly, only very good players use this.

Stippled Grip Tape vs Sport Comb

The sport comb is a stock that’s only usable with the Kar98k, and you should use it! It’s better than the stippled grip tape because it's faster and it doesn't have any downsides comparing to the tape.

The best way to use the Kar98k is to choose the monolithic suppressor instead of the tape (combined with the sport comb).

You can also decide to use the stippled grip tape with the sport comb, but then it becomes a lot harder to handle this gun.

This will give you the maximum ADS speed but remember, just like the aggressive sniper style mentioned before: you have to be very accurate!

Conclusion – Where Is Stippled Grip Tape Used For?

The stippled grip tape is meant to increase your ADS, and great for sneaking around your enemies. If you like to try out the aggressive sniper-style, you should go for an optimal ADS speed and therefore we recommend removing the monolithic suppressor to make room for the stippled grip tape.

Always use a tac laser on your sniper, because you want to be able to snipe accurately! The downside of the tac laser is that enemies can see your light, but the scope of snipers glare anyway so this shouldn't be a problem. Good to know is that you should avoid using the tape on an assault rifle, except the AS VAL. Assault weapons need recoil control, and the tape doesn't contribute to this.

In short, remember that the stippled grip tape is better for close range and the tac laser is better for long-range. The grip tape benefits your sprint to fire speed, whereas the tac laser makes you more stable whilst walking. For close range, speed matters more than recoil control.
